13 The Musical

Evan Goldman has it all! He has amazing friends, a loving family and he’s just about to turn 13 in the greatest city in the world – New York. That is until Evan learns his parents are divorcing, and he has to move to Indiana, throwing his plans for a Bar Mitzvah in jeopardy!

In Indiana, Evan discovers he must work hard and impress if he wants to be friends with the ‘in-crowd’. His new neighbour, Patrice, welcomes him with open arms; however, she is unpopular, forcing Evan to make a difficult decision. Does he stick with Patrice and become unpopular, or does he ditch her to ensure he has the best Bar Mitzvah ever?

Elsewhere in the school, Brett, the most popular boy in town, and his friends, Eddie, Malcolm, Richie and Simon are trying to think of a way for him to ask Kendra, the head cheerleader, out on a date. Evan sees an opportunity to become popular and offers his help to Brett in wooing Kendra. However, Evan does not realise the problems he has just caused himself. Archie, a boy with muscular dystrophy, also wants to date Kendra and blackmails Evan into helping him as well. Also, Kendra’s ‘best friend’, Lucy, wants to date Brett and uses her two best weapons to destroy the couples chances – her sexuality and gossip! Using her three friends Molly, Charlotte and Cassie, she plots to be the top girl at the school and is willing to say or do anything to get her way.

Will Evan get the perfect Bar Mitzvah? Will Lucy’s rumours ruin everyone’s lives? And will the group finally learn what it means to be a friend?
