Nearly four hundred years ago, shortly after the publication of King James Bible and Shakespeare's First Folio, vicar and librarian Robert Burton completed The Anatomy Of Melancholy – a 1,500 page long attempt to identify the symptoms, causes and cures of kinds of melancholy.
Extraordinary, hilarious and profound it has been described by many as 'the greatest book ever written'. Amidst all the wild stories and suppositions much of its advice remains as urgent and profound now as it did then.
