1940s Weekend
Bantock House will welcome the 1940s World War Weekend to its lovingly restored Edwardian house and beautiful grounds once again as the annual event returns for another weekend of family fun and nostalgia.
The weekend promises music and comedy from Martin Barry (MC for the proceedings), plus trade stalls and activities with highlights including displays and re-enactments as well as a selection of civilian and military vehicles.
As in previous years, organisers anticipate that many visitors will come along in 1940s dress, both everyday clothing and uniform from the War years and, although vintage clothing is not compulsory, it is very much encouraged. Visitors can even buy 1940s clothing and accessories at the event.
Also in attendance over the weekend will be members and representatives from the SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Families Association) and the WI (Women’s Institute).
This immensely popular event is returning to Bantock for its 11th year. There is something for all of the family to enjoy. Old and young alike will have a chance to remember or discover how it was to live during wartime and the 'Roaring 40s'.
