with Wells Cathedral School Chorus
Eliza Talman and Max Li, winners of this year’s Concerto Competition at Wells Cathedral School, take to the concert platform as soloists to perform their chosen concertos. We are also delighted to welcome guest conductor Adam Hickox, Assistant Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and alumnus of the School.
The concert concludes with Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis (Mass for Troubled Times), conducted by Chris Finch, in celebration of Nelson’s crushing victory over Napoleon’s fleet at the Battle of the Nile. Written during a time of war and strife, the work’s timeless message of yearning for the return of peace and harmony has made it one of the most beloved works in choral literature. Free for 25s and under.
