What happens when The Pendon Players, the long-standing (if a little geriatric) village theatre group decides to put on a blockbuster community pantomime based on the teenage love tragedy Romeo and Juliet?

How will they deal with a 60 something Juliet? Will the cast be capable of memorising their lines? What if the set falls down? And what if the Technical Manager falls asleep and the lighting and sound go haywire?

The young people of the village come to the rescue. But there remains this problem: compared to turning a pumpkin into a golden coach, or a rubbed lamp into genie, is the task of turning the tragic teenage tale of poetic doomed love into an accident-prone, blundering farce achievable by the wildly inept amateur cast?
