Calm, laid back demeanour, combined with a hilarious and erudite turn of phrase. Chris Stokes has supported Milton Jones on tour. He quit stand-up for a while and worked as an RSPCA van driver, but returned with a discernible confidence to tell some amusingly interesting accounts and theories.
'A comedic star' - Huddersfield Examiner.

Stand-up comedian and writer who has worked on various sitcoms such as the award winning BBC 3 comedy Ideal (where he also played Troy, a mad DJ who lived in the airing cupboard). He has been called ‘The Clown Prince of Manchester Scallies’. His barbed wit and daring approach keeps his audiences on their toes as he challenges them, whilst still managing to allure them into loving him.
Tony has also written for wide variety of comedians including Steve Coogan and Johnny Vegas.
'Always clever, often hilarious' (The Scotsman).
'A demon set and staggering stage presence...' (The Big Issue).
Tony Burgess tour dates
'Sean's first venture onto the stage was at the infamous Beat The Frog amateur night at Manchester's equally infamous Frog and Bucket, a notorious baptism of fire. But as a supply teacher, the ability to walk into a room, stand up in front of a crowd, do your thing and look at ease doing it, is a handy cross-transferable skill.
'The acidic Mancunian has a scathingly dry wit and writes some sharp observational comedy, supply teaching should yield a rich seam of material for the perceptive, intelligent stand-up' (Hyena Lounge Comedy Club).
