Me And My Girl: The Concept Players
This Spring, the award winning Concept Players will be performing the timeless classic musical Me And My Girl.
Made famous in the 1930s by starting a whole new dance craze with The Lambeth Walk, this ultimate in feel-good musicals has such hits as The Sun Has Got Its Hat On, Me And My Girl and, of course, Leaning On A Lamp Post. Updated in the 1980s with additional script provided by Stephen Fry, the new improved show was an instant hit, running for years in the West End and on Broadway.
So why not join them as they tell the tale of the arrival of the new Earl of Harewood, Bill Snibson, who is rather a surprise to the, stuffy upper classes. Bill, an unapologetically unrefined cockney, will only receive his inheritance if Sir John and the Duchess approve of him. The Duchess feels that with a little grooming, Bill will be suitable to inherit the title – and the money. However, she insists that Bill break up with his cockney girlfriend, Sally. The course of love never does run smooth but this feel-good show is packed full of clever dialogue, snappy jokes and with many wonderfully uplifting, memorable musical routines, it is sure to have you whistling as you leave.

The Concept Players are a small amateur theatre group based in South East Wales and was set up in order to try to put on productions that were just that little bit different. They believe in a fresh approach to the business of running an amateur musical theatre company and they enjoy ourselves, taking great efforts to ensure their audiences do as well. They believe in nurturing talent and avoiding the pitfalls of bad sets, bad costumes and run-of-the-mill productions. If it is worth doing, it is worth doing well!
