Never miss another 'The xx' show
Following the release of their new album, 'Coexist', The xx return with a headline UK tour in December.
Following the release of their debut album 'xx', the South London trio spent the lion's share of 2010 far from home, taking their gentle shaping of a new London sound to ears and hearts in America, Japan, Australia and mainland Europe. Critical acclaim was matched by commercial success around the world, before The xx won the UK's prestigious Mercury Music Prize.
With all the successes and new experiences of that intense year and a half, a period away from the stage and studio was inevitable. In late October 2010 The xx returned from tour for some time apart, and normality.
Three years on, Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith are back with their new album, 'Coexist', and a new perspective. Where 'xx' lent in close to whisper in your ear, 'Coexist' gazes warmly in your eyes.
This event takes place at O2 Academy Leeds, which has achieved Bronze Status for disabled access from Attitude Is Everything.
2010 Mercury Prize winners The xx are a London trio known for their captivating stripped-down minimalist sound. It's often been said that "quiet is the new loud" and The xx are certainly among the best at creating gentle yet intense atmospheric mood music. Simplistic bass and keyboards at hush levels with vocals at almost a whisper, their delicate songs have led to comparisons with Young Marble Giants and early Cocteau Twins.
