Sign Me Up A Story; Baba Yaga: Krazy Kat Theatre Company
Hearing led and deaf directed Krazy Kat Theatre, create shows that are accessible not only to deaf children and young people but also to their hearing peers. New project Sign Me Up a Story features Baba Yaga the bony legged, the deaf, the witch a fast-moving comedy re-telling of ancient tales of old Russia featuring trick puppets, storytelling, sign language and a magical soundtrack.
Baba Yaga lives in deepest Russia in a house on chicken legs and rides the night skies in her mortar, using the pestle as a rudder and sweeping away any tracks behind her with her broom. Even her house has chicken legs. When a passing Princess needs help with a magic bird, and two local yokels prove less than resourceful, the story tumbles into a rabble rousing riot of colour, magic and middle European intrigue.
This performance is suitable for those aged 3 - 7 years.
This event takes place at Colchester Arts Centre, which has achieved Bronze Status for disabled access from Attitude Is Everything.

Krazy Kat Theatre Company
Krazy Kat Theatre, founded in 1982 by Kinny Gardner and the late Alastair Scott McMillan, is one of the few UK based companies providing artistic opportunities for, and platforming the creative work of, deaf artists.
Krazy Kat's aim is to use their position of advocacy to build on their extensive network of national contacts within the deaf community. They continue to offer career paths for this diverse section of UK artists, address the lack of opportunities facing deaf and disabled artists and actively and visibly challenge this under-representation in the arts.
