In the grand tradition of 'The Special Relationship', the State of The Union combines the talents of America and England, producing an end result that is sure to delight fans of hook-laden songs, fiery and emotional guitar playing and soulful vocals. Tapping into a multitude of influences, from Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash to Blind Lemon Jefferson, the wide open Fenlands and the frenetic buzz of London, State Of The Union is a masterclass in songwriting, showing off the talents of bluesy Americana stalwart Brooks Williams and cult British singer-songwriter Boo Hewerdine to full effect.

Frontman of '80s pop band The Bible and songwriter for Eddi Reader, kd Lang, Paul Young and Natalie Imbruglia (amongst many others). An accomplished live performer with much heart and passion thrown into performance, Boo has released several albums as a solo performer. The latest, 'God Bless The Pretty Things' was released in 2009. He has made international collaborations and hit songs that stretch over two decades and many genres.

Lauded as one of the top 100 acoustic guitarists of all time, Brooks is a brilliant guitarist and singer/songwriter from Boston, USA, with an instantly endearing manner and 'intelligent lyrics, strong guitar with a dose of the blues and just a touch of John Martyn influence. He has been wowing audiences with his silky voice, hook laden songs, rollicking acoustic and resonator slide guitar. A 24-year veteran of the road, born in Statesboro, Georgia (USA) and now residing in Cambridge England.
