Frank Turner + Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun + Tim Barry
Following his massive sold out headline show at London Wembley Arena in April, Frank Turner will embark on a full 18 date UK tour in November and December.
Frank Turner has had an exceptional couple of years - a huge sold out 2011 UK tour culminating at Hammersmith Apollo; Main Stage sets at Reading and Leeds; winning two AIM Awards for Best Live Act and Hardest Working Act; a top 12 album with 'England Keep My Bones' and his biggest headline show at Wembley Arena.
This year also saw general release of Frank's 'Second Three Years' - a collection of live tracks, sessions, cover versions, b-sides and lost songs from the past three years.
His new UK tour sees him going to all corners of the UK, with special guests Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun. It's going to be a corker!
Former singer for hardcore outfit Million Dead turned folk troubador, Frank Turner has seen his fame flourish through, essentially, the old fashioned route - hard work, continuous gigging and word of mouth. His singer-songwriter solo career steadily grew from cult status to an arena filler, eventually playing London's O2 and Wembley Stadium.
It has been an eventful decade for the troubadour from Winchester who now resides in Holloway, North London. Turner released his debut album, “Sleep is For The Week”, in 2007 and has been on a stunning upward curve ever since. He is now one of the country’s most cherished songwriters, a man who plays the biggest venues in the land and whose records reach the higher echelons of the charts but who has never lost sight of his original MO: write, record, tour, repeat.
His blend of folk-punk-rock and powerful lyrics has seen him continue playing to an already devoted fanbase, but he picks up new fans with every festival appearance and tour.
Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls tour dates
These anarcho-anglo storytellers draw from a plethora of influences including alt. country folk and hardcore punk.
The Cheltenham four piece changed their name from Jim Lockey & The Solemn Suns, to simply Solemn Sun in 2014. As well as changing their moniker, their music also changed somewhat, with an edgier and darker sound, there are no acoustic guitars while a heavy electronic element helps separate it even further from their previous work.
Solemn Sun tour dates
Richmond, Virginia-based singer-songwriter who formerly fronted American punk band Abvail. As well as beautiful Americana, Barry also takes his spare folk-country sound in a different direction, opting for a more raucous, rocking approach on several tracks, adding more electric guitar, organ, piano and harmonica.
