The brain-child of disillusioned drummer Joseph Mount, Metronomy are an alternative electronica group producing funk-infused beats, android-esque vocals and highly addictive bass-lines.
Metronomy tour dates
Hints of Human League synths, Cure-esque vocals with a twist of cheeky pop and Kissy's inimitable electronic mash-up.
Kissy Sell Out tour dates
Future Of The Left are a rock band from Cardiff, Wales. They were formed in 2005 as part of a plea agreement following their involvement in an arms deal which left an actor playing Tony Blair dead, or at least pretending really well. They are made up of Andrew Falkous, Jack Egglestone and Julia Ruzicka.
Future Of The Left tour dates
Powerful combination of pop and modern folk music that is immediate and irresistible; that captures the ever-exciting sound of a prodigiously talented singer/songwriter live and direct at the peak of his powers.
Ben Kweller tour dates
Boy-girl yelpy vocals, busted up charity shop kids keyboards and Sonic Youth steam-train guitars' - The Fly. 'Wielding Pavement-esque spec-rock as artfully as they siphon Pixies' eyeball-splitting roar. They're simply sticking up two fists at the bore-rock masses' - NME.
Johnny Foreigner tour dates
Replacing regular guitar with samples, Esser's live show is a collection of very slick sampling and huge drum beats with plenty of extra percussion on top. Similar to early Beck in many ways, except replace that American Scientologist drawl with very English punctuation and dry humour and you can see why Esser is causing a stir.
Esser tour dates
This Glasgow six-piece formed in January 2006. Drawing on influences from Rocket from the Crypt and Sonic Youth to Jim O'Rourke and Stereolab, they have dubbed their raw brand of music 'Fight Pop'.
Dananananaykroyd tour dates
London duo The Big Pink whose drone-led soundscapes and dreamy vocals put them somewhere in the same category as MGMT and has led to support slots with the likes of TV On The Radio.
The Big Pink tour dates
This San Diego- raised, LA-based quartet play a refreshingly stripped-down, revved-up, no-frills brand of raucous rock and roll.
The Soft Pack tour dates
The Chapman Family play Disco Noir with stonking songs made for the dancefloor!
The Chapman Family tour dates
"Bjork is said to be a fan of Micachu and can probably indentify with another artist brave enough to take pop music into entirely uncharted territory. Micachu is largely inspired by Harry Partch who famously used an array of customised and home made instruments. These included a xylophone made of light bulbs, a ‘Cloud Chamber’ made out of pyrex dishes that could not only be played musically but detect particles of ionizing radiation and a series of highly complicated 44 stringed instruments. Similarly Micachu uses a modified guitar played with a hammer action called a ‘chu’ and a bowed instrument fashioned from a CD rack. She also uses improvised instruments, such as glass bottles or a vacuum cleaner." - Rough Trade
Micachu & The Shapes tour dates
North London three-piece Let's Wrestle, comprise of WPG on guitar and vocals, Mike Hankin on bass and Louis Scase on drums. Influenced by the mischievous, surreal humour of David Shrigley and the homespun stylings of anti-folk raconteur Jeffrey Lewis, they sound like a furious amalgam of Swell Maps and ELO.
Let's Wrestle tour dates
Dublin-based trio Bell X1 take their name from the first aircraft to break the sound barrier. They make 'skinny white boy' music, infused by Talking Heads, Blondie and The Byrds. The public don't seem to mind as Bell X1 are rapidly becoming hot property in their native Ireland. High profile support slots for the likes of Tom McRae, Elliot Smith and Bon Jovi have helped.
Bell X1 tour dates
Vanessa Brown, aka VV Brown is a singer, a songwriter, a performer, multi-instrumentalist and a producer. She describes her music as 'doo-wop indie whilst traveling on a rocket to outer space'. Passionate, music-obsessed and real.
VV Brown tour dates
New incarnation of the once XL-signed Dolly Daggers. Guitar-less blend of organ, bass and drums. Elements of funk, barbershop soul, electro, blues. Compared to Ian Drury & The Blockeads.
Golden Silvers tour dates
Old school 4-piece indie band somewhere between The Housemartins, Blur and The Young Knives. The singer has a strangely quavery voice like Feargal Sharkey meets David Byrne. Also think The View, Weezer and early XTC.
Official Secrets Act tour dates
The Handsome Family are Brett and Rennie Sparks, a husband and wife collaboration from Chicago, that has been described as a unique, darkly comic country-gothic duo 'teetering between The Honeymooners and Macbeth'.
'Haunting, primal and strangely heroic' (The Times).
