August Lecture - Pit Firing Ceramics

There will be a series of 5 lectures during the summer on a Thursday evening, doors open at 7:30 with lecture to start at 8:00pm.

Free tea/coffee on arrival and a chance to network after the lecture. Wine will also be available to purchase by the glass.

Annual members and Friends of the farm are invited to join for free, other visitors pay normal farm entrance and are welcome to visit during the same day on their entrance ticket.

Lecture series:

* May 19 - Secrets of the High Woods with Alice Thorne from the South Downs National Park and her involvement with the LIDAR project.

* June 16 - How Roman was Roman Britain? with Chris Grocock. An overview of recent developments in our understanding of the impact the Romans had in Britain and new focuses in archaeological investivation.

* July 21 - Cooks in Ancient Rome with Sally Grainger. Fresh research examining the status, organisation and the esteem in which they were held.

* August 18 - Pit firing ceramics - ancient traditions and modern methods with Mary English. The ancient process nd contemporary usage for Pit-Fired ceramics.

* September 22nd - Who are the Britons? with David Freeman.
