Adult Workshops: Portraiture
This session explores the nature of portraiture and how to capture the essence of a real person. Looking at different styles of painting, particularly photorealism and expressionism we will be encouraging you to experiment with these different techniques in oils or acrylic. There will be a life model to work from, oils or acrylics and a small canvas for you. The works we will particularly look at are Lucien Freud, Portrait of Kitty and Andrew Tift, Kitty (Transition).
Discussion of works, in all sessions, will last approximately 30mins, with the practical workshops and questions, feedback and discussion for the remainder. Some materials will be provided, but please bring your own if you have them. All the works we will be looking at in detail are on display in the gallery and you can come and see them or look them up on the gallery website and look under Search the Collection.
