Birdwood

Birdwood is a thrilling All-Star combination of three bands that played on the famous Eel Pie Island in the 1960s:

- The Birds featuring vocalist, Ali Mackenzie (which in the 1960s also featured Ronnie Wood on guitar)
- Guitarist, Derek Griffiths of The Artwoods (which featured Art Wood on vocals)
- Keith Grant of The Downliners Sect on bass.

Mark Freeman (Rollin' Stoned, Art Wood All-Stars, Downliners Sect) is on drums and Chris Parren (Strawbs, Rocky Horror Show Band) is on keyboards.

This evening's performance will be dedicated to the late Art Wood (brother of Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones) whose assistance, enthusiasm and ecouragement in the Eel Pie Club's early days will never be forgotten. Art died of Prostate Cancer in 2006. 7th July would have been Art Wood's Birthday and every year The Eel Pie Club remembers Art with a special gig in his memory.
