Sheelanagig return this November...
Delivering intricate, rhythmically complex arrangements of original and traditional works in a Balkan style, the band who formed in early 2005 had an instant chemistry, gained a considerable following and quickly earned a reputation for their exhilarating and intense live performances. This group of incredible players force you to dance your socks off and have a great time.
Sheelanagig have played just about every imaginable venue on their hectic touring schedule; clubs, pubs, art centres, small theatres, European street festivals as well as tearing up the UK festival scene with profile slots at Glastonbury, Green Man and Beautiful Days (to name a few).
Sheelanagig’s live shows have grown to incorporate aspects of street theatre, elements of storytelling and even acrobatics, it can provoke a frenzied reaction – flying drinks, mosh pits and stage invasions are hazards on a really good night. In short, expect mayhem, a lot of laughs and some great music.
Having caused dancefloor mayhem from the Scottish Islands to the South of Italy, Sheelanagig are probably the most fun you can have with a fiddle, flute, guitar, double-bass and drums. They are as physically relentless on stage as their music is – playing a unique and energetic blend of Folk, Jazz and World Music. Festival favourites at Glastonbury and Green Man their live show encompasses street theatre, elements of storytelling and acrobatics, and is sure to provoke a reaction – frenzied dancing and stage invasions are hazards on a really good night. They are a truly spellbinding band to see live.
