Latimer Players

A terrific evening of love and laughter is on offer when Thurcaston's very own Latimer Players present Wife After Death at the village's Memorial Hall.

This fast-paced and raucous black comedy sees the friends and colleagues of the late comedian and national treasure, Dave Thursby, gather beside his coffin to pay their last respects.

His widow has arranged a funeral to remember, complete with horse-drawn hearse and attendant dog.

When an unexpected guest turns up, a series of revelations reveal Dave’s dubious past and guests are left to ask themselves whether they ever really knew the 'real' Dave and who would have the last laugh?

This sparkling comedy is written by Eric Chappel, BAFTA Award winning author of the TV hit Rising Damp, as well as much loved TV comedies such as Duty Free, Home To Roost and Only When I Laugh.

In all, Eric has written over 200 television comedy scripts and more than 20 stage plays which are performed worldwide.

He is unquestionably one of the top writers of comedy in Britain today and this play is definitely one of his best.
