The first ever Tetbury Wool Fair takes place on Sunday 20 October 2024, at Tetbury Goods Shed Arts Centre.
Featuring independent yarn manufacturers, spinners, dyers, eco-friendly dyers using only naturally sourced colours, lectures, workshops and a knitting table where you can seek advice on your latest project. And also yarn accessories; a children’s corner with screenings of Shaun the Sheep, courtesy of Aardman; a display by Flaxlands, the Stroud Flax Farm; a spinning wheel just like the Sleeping Beauty’s; two local yarn retailers (Tetbury and Stroud) and a knitting pattern exclusive to the Fair.
KNITTING PATTERNS (bring and take away). Bring your own unwanted knitting books, magazines and patterns and swap for new ones. If you’d like to drop patterns in before the event, you can do so by addressing them to Wool Fair patterns and leaving them with reception at the Tetbury Goods Shed. But feel free to bring yours with you on the day.
WOOL FAIR EXCLUSIVE. Lorna KL of Thread and Yarn/Fibre Valley Art, the artist who produces naïve art focussed on yarn and knitting, is designing an exclusive sock pattern. Free for all ticket holders.
DEMONSTRATIONS. Help, instruction and kits will be available on the day for crafters interested in felting .
CROCHET enthusiasts will be able to see the Japanese craft of amigurumi, the tiny crocheted construction of minute toys and animals.
KNITTERS’ TABLE. Stuck on something tricky? Or just wanting company? The knitters’ table provides both.
