Death comes to us all, and, knowing this, many people’s preference is to die at home. But few do. Why?
Based on her own experiences and those of her friends, including Diana and George Melly, playwright Nell Dunn gives voice to the story of people who have experienced a home death. She tells a funny, moving, disturbing, and uplifting story. Nell says this. ‘Home Death is a mixture of moments. I wrote it after my partner died. I wanted to make dying at home more supported. I wanted to write about some good deaths and bad ones too.’
As in Nell’s other award winning work, Poor Cow, Up the Junction, and Cancer Tales, she examines a difficult subject with humanity and insight.
