The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Big Band – Ella & The Count Basie Orchestra!

The Band and guest vocalists will celebrate the music of the First Lady of Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald and the Count Basie Orchestra featuring the original arrangements by Quincy Jones, Sammy Nestico and Neal Hefti.

The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Big Band comprises of students currently studying at the College and is populated by current students from the under- graduate and post-graduate courses on both Jazz and Classical Music courses.

RWCMD Big Band rehearses weekly under the current Musical Director Ceri Rees and enjoys a varied and successful concert program throughout the academic year both at the College and further afield.

The Band has recently been featured in a series of concerts at the RWCMD for both its annual jazz festival and recently a tribute concert to the music of the American Big Bands and Sinatra and Basie at the Sands.

RWCMD Big Band has also appeared at the Swansea International Jazz festival to much critical acclaim and regularly performs for the South Wales Big Band Society.
