Lilies On The Land
Written by The Lions Part.
The Lions part wanted to give voice to the wartime experiences of women, particularly the Women’s Land Army. The play is a series of scenes played out which were written from reminiscences from many women who had been in the Land Army during World War II.
Margie is from Newcastle, and refers to herself as a townie. She is naive and childlike, but not childish. She was billeted to a farm on her own, despite being a gregarious person, and this leads her to become more introspective as the play progresses.
