OOTS indulges in an early celebration of Beethoven’s 250th anniversary with a performance of his Symphony No.6, a paean to the great outdoors. Joe Cutler’s Music for Sunflowers also hints at the pastoral world with his exquisite work for solo viola and strings. Cutler, who is head of composition at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, was commissioned to write this piece by Orchestra of the Swan in 2009. Rose Redgrave makes her first appearance as soloist with the orchestra.
