The true story of Oxford professor and successful author C.S. Lewis and the woman who changed his life, American poet Joy Gresham. Shadowlands shows how the discovery of love and the risk of loss can transform one man’s relationships; even with God.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of C.S. Lewis’ death Tread the Boards Theatre Company are proud to present this touching story of this great writer’s life. The story follows Lewis as he meets an American fan, Joy Gresham, whom he befriends and eventually marries.
The story follows their relationship and how he deals with his struggle with pain and grief: Lewis says that one should endure suffering with patience, but finds that it no longer applies when Joy is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
