Songs of Anger and Redemption are delighted to announce an evening of excellence featuring 3 of the UK's top acts in their chosen genre.
Americana with a twist is where we find Oxford based four piece The Autumn Saints.
Oldham based 3 Piece "Groove Rockers" Blackballed have taken the blues and made their own style. They play it like they mean it but a tongue is always planted firmly in their collective cheeks. Expect Guinness sales to rocket at Katie's with this lot in town.
Stevie Jones and The Wildfires are a well-established Northamptonshire based independent 4 piece who deliver their own unique blend of modern alternative rock centred around powerful acoustic-based songwriting.
The Autumn Saints
The Autumn Saints are an Anglo-American quartet based in Oxford. The band's music has its roots planted firmly in the American South, with lead singer Britt Strickland bringing the soulful, weighty music history of his home state of North Carolina to the City of Dreaming Spires. The southern storytelling tradition made famous by the likes of Dylan and Johnny Cash is very much alive in the Saints' music, with tales of hurricanes sweeping through the Appalachian Mountains and encounters with the devil at the crossroads unravelling in each song.? The British influence in the band, though, is also unmistakable. The melodic, ethereal guitar lines that float and weave through the songs create the sort of atmospheric depth that British indie groups have always done so well. David Ireland (guitar) and Martin Gallagher (drums) bring their musical influences to the mix, from the shuffling rhythms and counter-rhythms of groups like the Stone Roses to the twisting, choppy guitar licks of Wilko Johnson. Nick Bennett adds his twangy rhythm guitar, keyboards, harmonica, lap steel and harmonies to the band.

Blackballed
Formed in 2012, this Oldham based trio features brothers Marshall (guitar/vocals) and Leon Gill (drums) and Tom Wibberley on bass. Marshall is a phenomenal guitarist who is also a member of top UK cult band New Model Army. In between touring and recording duties for them, Blackballed gives him a platform to air this other musical direction. Bits of Led Zeppelin, early ZZ Top, Rory Gallagher, Cream and country rock shine through. It's a full on sound and they describe themselves as a 'well turned out full tilt oiled engine with a ton of groove rock power.' Which pretty much sums them up!
