As Wales' favourite psychedelic popsters, the Super Furry Animals have inspired a whole generation of artists since their emergence in the mid-nineties. Recording in both English and Welsh, they changed the way that many thought about the language, whilst producing some of the finest summery Beach Boys-inspired indie to have surfaced in the last two decades.
Super Furry Animals tour dates
Brighton's Maccabees have gone from strength to strength since the release of their debut top 30 album 'Colour It In' in 2007. Their brand of slightly off-kilter British art-rock has seen them compared to the likes of Wire, Blur, Magazine, Futureheads and XTC. Their frenzied live shows have generated stage invasions and riotous crowds buzzing to the sounds of already classic anthems like 'About Your Dress' and 'Toothpaste Kisses'. After 14 years together, in 2016 the guys announced they had decided to call it a day, and will play their farewell shows in 2017.
The Maccabees tour dates
The Mercury-nominated Scottish indie rockers formed in early 2006. Championed by music industry mogul Alan McGee, the band consists of James Allan (vocals), Rab Allan (lead guitar), Paul Donoghue (bass guitar) and Jonna Löfgren (drums).
Glasvegas tour dates
Explosive indie-dance four-piece Late Of The Pier. Hailing from the Midlands, they make DIY fuelled noise-pop laced with elements of disco, rave and anything else!
Late Of The Pier tour dates
The hip-hop/electro duo whose name has been on the tip of everyone's tongues, since the release of their 2007 single Thou Shalt Always Kill. Sounding like a head on collision between The Streets, Goldie Lookin' Chain and Kieran Hebden's Fourtet, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip manage to mix coolness, humour and wry commentary with some highly original material.
Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip tour dates
Friendly Fires lie somewhere between the poppiness of Snap!, the funkiness of Prince, and the electronic dance-iness of Daft Punk. Friendly Fires were the first unsigned band ever to play Transmission on Channel 4, shown on 9th November 2007. Their self-titled debut album was nominated for the 2009 Mercury Awards and the band have since gone from strength to strength, nominated for two Brit Awards in 2010, and releasing their Top 10 album, 'Pala', in 2011.
Friendly Fires tour dates
Celebrating a bratty, tongue-in-cheek viewpoint and a spunky indie punk style similar to Art Brut, while applying an assortment of instruments akin to Architecture in Helsinki, Los Campesinos are a six piece indie pop band formed in Cardiff in 2006. When the band first emerged on the indie pop scene, they were pigeonholed with the 'twee pop' movement, as a result of their lively, joyous music. The band have worked hard since their 2008 debut, 'Hold On Now, Youngster', to shake the image of this and have now adopted a new darker guise. They cite obsessions with death and football as their influences.
Los Campesinos! tour dates
Japanese heavy-psych, trance-blown power jammers with a distinctive '70s psychedelic sound that is loud, heavy and fast. There's nothing like watching Acid Mothers live, with hilarity and noodlings galore, throat singing and vocal percussion, wonderfully satisfying guitar noise and the neverending, unforgettable riff of 'Pink Lady Lemonade'.
Acid Mothers Temple tour dates
A fantastic US punk-funk rock four piece consisting of singer Matt Shultz, guitarist Brad Shultz, bassist Daniel Tichenor, and drummer Jared Champion. The boys have previously toured with Queens of The Stone Age and take their influences from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fun Lovin Criminals and Pearl Jam. The band have notched up a staggering seven no.1s since 2010 on the Billboard Alternative Chart, beating both Muse and the Black Keys.
Cage The Elephant tour dates
Boy-girl yelpy vocals, busted up charity shop kids keyboards and Sonic Youth steam-train guitars' - The Fly. 'Wielding Pavement-esque spec-rock as artfully as they siphon Pixies' eyeball-splitting roar. They're simply sticking up two fists at the bore-rock masses' - NME.
Johnny Foreigner tour dates
A young Bristol-based band who can be described as punk-pop at a push. They combine interlocking fuzz guitars, catchy melodies and pounding rhythms and have been compared to Blondie and Dinosaur Jr.
New Rhodes tour dates
Sweltering avant-garde electronic punk. youthmovies deliver energetic and passion-fuelled live performances and their music flies in the face of convention, utilising live guitars and drums to their full and fusing lo-fi electronica and punk-inspired distortion. 'Clever, original - and sadistically unpredictable' – Kerrang
youthmovies tour dates
'A bit like Futureheads playing Chic songs, at double-speed, with utterly nutzoid bits and performing them like B-boy cyber men' - NME. 'A high velocity artrock punk-funk four-piece with the imagination of Foals, the attitude of Devo, the complexity of Liars, the dancing IQ of Daft Punk and the insane energy of Polysics and with four keyboards on stage, vocoder, guitars, drums' - Artrocker.
So So Modern tour dates
