Inadequate Man

Fresh from the huge success of his 2014 tour show, Getting Lost in My Hometown, storytelling comedian Paul Richards is back with his most awkward show to date: Inadequate Man.

The hour long-piece, which fuses theatre and comedy, will be Paul's twelfth Edinburgh Fringe production. Telling the gentle story of a 33-year-old man who is desperate to get on with people only to accidentally cause 'misunderstandings', a man who is desperate to create a whole new genre of 'entertainment', a man who has been described, quite a few times now, as being 'a cross between Dave Gorman and Rigsby from Rising Damp.' A one-man comedy play about shepherd's pie, shocking third dates (the first and second are always great) and seeing the good in absolutely everything. Will definitely feature a small drum and some letters to his former house mate who still hasn't given him back his deposit, not that he's bitter or anything. May or may not contain the grand première of Ronnie Rosenthal: The Musical.

Paul Richards is a storytelling comedian and playwright based in Cambridge. He is also a drummer, and quite often likes to combine the two. He has written eleven shows that have ended up at the Edinburgh Fringe, initially as a comedy writer for ensembles but with the last three being solo: Things Could be Marvellous, The Moments of Madness that Make Us and the critically lauded, Getting Lost in My Hometown.

With a likeable, gentle rambling style and with the look of a man who clearly isn't used to being this tall, Paul's work has been positively received all over the country from both audiences and reviewers alike.

Paul tours the UK frequently in his battered little Ford Fiesta, with his adventures taking him everywhere from 'proper' theatres in Devon to a bakery on The Isle Of Skye. He also wrote and starred in online sitcom, And Then Things Got Complicated for Emily & Michael, in early 2014, which was later screened in Michigan. He has released two collections of comedic short stories; The Stationery Seller and My Car Doesn't Do Hills.
