The SFL Poetry Slam is an absolute blast! 15 (or thereabouts) incredible performers share their work and are then judged by the audience. This is a competition. A full on, explosive competiton. And it is a huge amount of fun. So don't miss it this year...

2017's Festival saw the first SFL Poetry Slam and the winner was Brenda Read Brown, who won an opportunity to perform at last year's Festival. She hosted the Poetry Brunch and was, once again, a great success.

2018's winner, Jason N Smith, will be performing at this year's Festival in support of Friday's headline act - Dean Atta.

2019's winner is, as yet, unknown but they will also have the chance to perform at next year's Festival.

The whole shebang is masterminded by the Poets, Prattlers and Pandemonialist Collective. Here's a bit about them:

They are Dave Pitt, Emma Purshouse and Steve Pottinger. In 2016 they had a meeting in a pub in Wolverhampton. They drank beer. They talked about poetry. They hatched plans. And eventually decided that they should form a collective and see where that led them. In April 2017 it led them to their first full-length show and it was unleashed on the world at the Arena Theatre in Wolverhampton.

They had a lot of fun. The audience did too.
