Featuring the members of the Paul Weller Band.
Five top calibre musicians that have travelled the world playing in front of hundreds of thousands of people, performing on TV and numerous number #1 albums. These brothers in sound are the loyal musical backbone for Paul Weller.
The band will perform a selection of material from their own musical projects. With a rotating ethic, the band will share centre mic and alternate instruments to perform each other’s songs as part of the performance.
Steve Cradock was the first in line to join Paul Weller’s band 20 years ago as guitar player and collaborator on every album released since ‘Wild Wood’. Of course Cradock is an established musician in his own right, being the founder member of Ocean Colour Scene releasing 21 albums over 21 years and two of those being number #1 in the charts. Over the last two years Steve has become the newest guitar addition to front-man Terry Hall’s band The Specials. Cradock has also released three solo albums over the last seven years, some of those songs he will perform with the Songbook Collective.
Andy Crofts is the singer/songwriter of UK band The Moons. His band has released four albums and is currently working a release for 2016. Andy joined the Paul Weller band in 2008 and has made huge contributions to the last three Weller albums. Andy recently finished a yearlong project for a film called ‘ONE’, featuring Paul Weller and the band touring the world. Andy will be performing with the Songbook Collective sharing songs from The Moons projects.
Steve Pilgrim is a singer/songwriter and drummer who has played and sang for bands including The Stands and Cast among many others. For the last seven years he has been drumming for Paul Weller and has become an integral part of the band. Pilgrim will be releasing his 4th solo album this year, drawing on help from some of his closest musical friends and airing his songs with the other Weller band members in the Songbook Collective.
Andy Lewis is the superb bass player of Weller’s band, extremely diverse in his musical abilities. He is the face behind ‘Blow Up’ club nights that kicked off Britpop during the 90s. He DJ’s all over the world for the likes of Blur, Ocean Colour Scene and Weller, and still presents his own eclectic vinyl show on Soho Radio. He has also worked with Acid Jazz for many years, playing on some classic recordings. He will be singing and playing bass for the Songbook Collective but will also open and close the evening with his DJ sets.
Ben Gordelier was brought up in his parents’ rehearsal studio and was touring Europe as a drummer by the age of 15. By the time he was 24, Ben had built his own recording studio and had toured the world playing drums and samples with indie-electro artist Maps. He joined the Weller band in 2012, triggering samples and playing various percussion instruments, and he also played drums on Paul’s last two studio albums. Ben is the original drummer with The Moons and will be sharing the role of drummer with Steve Pilgrim with the Songbook Collective.
Please note, this is an all standing event.
