From Grime To Sublime

“Virtuoso of the Arts” Matthew Sharp joins the Northern Chamber Orchestra for a concert of extraordinary music that is bound to delight audiences of all ages. They will take you on a journey from the down and dirty streets of Buenos Aires, where tango is king, to the sublime songs of Broadway and the Great American Songbook.
Host for the evening is Matthew Sharp, an internationally renowned cellist, baritone and actor - you’ll be captivated by his enthralling performance! The evening will also involve some audience participation – you get to choose the final piece of music! Will it be the lively Praeludium by Grieg? Holst’s Jig from his St Paul’s Suite? Or the spirited Finale from Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings? You decide!
The first orchestral event to take place in Selby Town Hall, this concert, featuring a 13-piece ensemble, has been co-produced with Orchestras Live and supported by Arts Council England, The Foyle Foundation and Selby District Council.
