Acis And Galatea

Following five-star triumphs at the Royal Opera House and English National Opera, conductor Christian Curnyn leads his Early Opera Company in a performance of Handel’s Acis and Galatea, the story of the doomed love of the shepherd Acis and the sea-nymph Galatea whose pastoral idyll is shattered by the arrival of the one-eyed giant Polyphemus. Refusing to yield Galatea, Acis is crushed to death by the giant. The grief-stricken Galatea uses her divine powers to turn his shattered body into a stream, granting him immortality.
