Candoco Dance Company created a sensation last year when it became the first contemporary dance company to perform on Strictly Come Dancing. Renowned for creating acclaimed and cutting-edge work, Candoco brings a double bill of dramatic and powerful choreography to SICK Festival this autumn.
Yasmeen Godder’s Face In, set to an urban indie score, is a sensual ode to intimacy and imagination expressed through daring and uninhibited dance. This is a visually arresting performance that invites audiences to consider contemporary dance in bold new ways. Also, on the bill, is visual artist Hetain Patel’s critically acclaimed Let’s Talk About Dis. A playful and intimate piece, it exposes hidden prejudices and misplaced political correctness with seductive charm.
Face In is co-commissioned by Festival Oriente Occidente and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
Let’s Talk About Dis is funded by Cockayne Foundation - Grants for the Arts and the London Community Foundation and co-commissioned by ArtsDepot.
