A musical based on the novel KIPPS by H.G. Wells. Kipps works as an apprentice draper.
He gives Ann, his childhood sweetheart, a lovers token of half a sixpence to seal the romance. His uncle then leaves him a small fortune and he meets Helen Walsingham, forgetting his promise to Ann. His family pressure him into realising Ann is his first love, whom he marries. However, his yearning to maintain his social standing creates problems, which are only resolved when his fortune is lost.
