An evening of classic Blues

Legend says inside a shack in the Parisian region, where they practiced a repertoir of American and English blues, Phil Fernandez united his guitars and Bala Pradal’s keyboards. From this union, the group BIG DEZ was born in 1996.

The family grew quickly with the arrival of Lamine Guerfi on the bass, Marc Schaeller on the harmonica, Stéphane Miñana on drums, and Rodolphe Dumont on the guitar.

After skimming the bars of the Parisian region for a few years, the call of the sea sent them to the United States where they befriended the artists of Chicago, Austin and even Saint Louis.

The Muses grabbed a hold of Phil Fernandez, and the band composed their debut album, "Sail on Blues" and recorded it in Austin,Texas, in 2003.

The album Night after Night would soon follow in 2004 while still in Austin, as well as, You Can Smile in Jamestown, MO 2007.

In February 2009 Big Dez is selected by Blues on Seine to represent France in the INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE in Memphis, Tennessee.

That same year, appearing on "Late Live", in an anthology of various European concerts, and before the softness of Angers, Big Dez is inspired for the two following albums : Lazy Star in 2010 and Wet Paint in 2012.

More than twenty years after its creation, Big Dez is now compsed of Phil Fernandez singer and guitar player, Lamine Guerfi on the bass, Rodolphe Dumont on the guitar, Steve Belmont on the drums, Léa Worms on the keyboards et Marc Schaeller on the harmonica.

The group continues to frequent europeen and american festivals, always bringing a lot of energy.

Big Dez’s style is electric blues mixed with humor and melancholy, strongly tinted with funk, soul and rock and roll.

We salute the birth of Big Dez's eighth album, "Last Train", the first to be recorded in Paris, at Studio 180 by this Parisian group and mixed in Austin, Texas. The album consists of twelve titles with well-marked Blues/Rock character, that were composed by singer and guitarist, Phil Fernandez.

We still find, of course, the three main protagonists of the group whose training has evolved somewhat over time.

Prestigious musicians strengthened by acclaimed guests such as Lucky Peterson on the Hammond B3 organ and sax Gordon Beadle on the tenor sax.

It is the new staple of the collection whose resonance echoes excellence.

Big Dez

A 5-piece blues act from France. Icy guitar licks with a smooth yet powerful voice, Big Dez plays guitar with the chilling intensity of Albert Collins…
