Agatha Crusty (pronounced Croosty) is a crime novelist. She is also adept at solving crimes.

When her sister-in-law invites her to spend a few days in the village of Chortleby, it's not long before she gets caught up in a series of murders which seem to be directed at members of the village hall commitee.

With lots of suspects, from the vicar to the caretaker to identical twins, and completely incompetent policement, there are lots of laughs as the murders begin to pile up.
