Featuring

The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips appearing at this event

Alternative rock outfit from Oklahoma City founded by the eclectic Wayne Coyne. The Lips are renowned for their spectacular, eccentric live shows, which include elaborate costumes, puppets, confetti and Wayne Coyne's man-sized plastic bubble in which he walks over the top of the audience. Following hit albums like The Soft Bulletin, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots and At War With The Mystics, the band continues to push boundaries. From self-releases on USB sticks engulfed in a gummy skull head and fetus, to tribute albums covering Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon and The Beatles' Sgt.Pepper, to celebrity collaborations with their 'heady fwends' including Ke$ha and Nick Cave, the band seem to be forever productive and creative. Following a "greatest hits" compilation in 2018, they released their 15th studio album 'King's Mouth' in 2019, featuring narration from The Clash's Mick Jones.

Tinie

Tinie appearing at this event

Tinie (FKA Tinie Tempah) originated from South London, gaining notoriety in 2006 with his underground debut single 'Wifey'. Later, Tinie (real name Patrick Junior C. Okongwu) would come to top the UK charts in 2010 with 'Pass Out', a song 'about getting so out of it that you pass out'. In less than six months Tinie went from underground buzz artist to bona fide pop phenomenon.

Primal Scream

Primal Scream appearing at this event

Loaded with a massive eclectic body of work, from their early C86 jangly guitar releases to the ambient baggy indie-rock sound of their Mercury Prize winning 'Screamadelica', their mid-career pastiche of the Rolling Stones, right through to their later more experimental dance-based material, Bobby Gillespie and the boys are forever movin' on up.

Laura Mvula

Laura Mvula appearing at this event

R'n'B singer-songwriter from Birmingham combining elements of gospel, jazz and experimental electronica. The Guardian described her as sounding "like hearing Billie Holiday with the Beach Boys", while Pitchfork claimed "Mvula shares considerable DNA with Nina Simone, most obviously in her unyielding charisma, her musical virtuosity, and her profoundly central blackness. Mvula’s voice also shares some of Simone’s rawness, as well as its facility juxtaposing vulnerability and strength." Her 2013 debut album 'Sing to the Moon', which reached no.9 on the UK album chart, was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. She was then nominated again in 2016 for her follow-up release; the critically acclaimed 'The Dreaming Room'.
