The name ‘Don Juan’ has become a synonym for ‘womaniser’ the world over, through the legendary 14th-century nobleman’s endless incarnations on stage and in film, literature and visual art. But in Mozart’s Don Giovanni we meet the Don on a very unusual day: a day of foiled sexual conquests, a day of murder, his last day on earth.

Not many comic operas begin with a coldblooded murder and end with the hero’s consignment to hell – but Don Giovanni swings restlessly between comedy and tragedy to startling effect. Mozart’s irresistible music follows suit, its famous highlights ranging from Don Giovanni’s sparkling Champagne aria to the seductive duet Là ci darem la mano.

Following his success as Tarquinius in The Rape of Lucretia, baritone Duncan Rock returns to the Tour to sing Don Giovanni. He is accompanied by tenor Anthony Gregory who sings Don Ottavio opposite soprano Ana Maria Labin as Donna Anna. Polish soprano Magdalena Molendowska sings Donna Elvira.
