Hailing from Nova Scotia, Canadian Celtic supergroup Còig have announced a series of live dates across the UK this February.
The tour will follow up their hugely successful series of gigs in the UK last spring when the quartet stunned crowds across the country with their non-traditional and exciting style of traditional music.
Comprising Darren McMullen (guitar, mandolin, mandola, banjo, bouzouki, whistles, flute, vocals), Rachel Davis (fiddle, viola, vocals), Chrissy Crowley (fiddle) and Adam Young (piano), the four players of Còig grew up and played together in Cape Breton and it wasn't until years later they decided to form a band together. The comprising result is a magic and creative combination of musical influences and harmonious sounds.
Crowds at UK venues will be treated to songs from the band’s latest release ‘Ashlar’, meaning ‘a perfect fit’, which was recorded in Dave Gunning’s Wee House of Music studio in Nova Scotia during a brief break in touring.
Nova Scotia’s powerhouse Còig has cemented its status as one of today’s most exciting new North American Celtic groups. With a combined total of over 30 group and solo awards and nominations, the four members of the band are already recognized as major stars of the Celtic world.
