Hangfire Smokehouse
It’s gonna be hot and smoky at the Paget Rooms when Sam and Shauna from Hang Fire Smokehouse come to town!
In 2012 Samantha Evans and Shauna Guinn travelled to America on a road trip of epic proportions to find out ‘what exactly is American BBQ?’
Their adventures saw them cooking for a rodeo in Houston, helping an old mountain man repair his even older drum smoker deep in the Appalachians, and being entrusted with spice rub secrets that they have to take to the grave.
Having experienced all the major State variations, Sam and Shauna aim to recreate authentic southern style BBQ using British produce. They are credited with giving real momentum to the pop-up restaurant and street food movement in Cardiff, winning the coveted ‘Best Street Food’ Award at the BBC R4 Food Awards in 2015 before opening their first restaurant in Barry earlier this year.
At this event the duo will be talking about their experiences, sharing tasting samples and signing copies of The Hang Fire Cookbook: Recipes and Adventures in American BBQ.
Bar facilities will be available and appropriate musical entertainment will complete the southern atmosphere. An evening not to be missed!
