Spree Festival - Really...?!: Daniel Sloss
Paisley’s national festival is back for 2014! Now in its third year, The Spree is Paisley’s annual celebration of arts and culture – and is now firmly established as a fixture on the Scottish festival map.
The Spiegeltent will be back in County Square for another year, with action also taking place at other venues in the town centre. And there is another top-notch line-up of music and comedy for you lucky folks to enjoy!
The centrepiece musical event will be a one-off collaboration between King Creosote, Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire, and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, in the stunning setting of Paisley Abbey.
Other musical highlights include a show by Dougie MacLean- fresh from his Commonwealth Games closing ceremony performance – as well as a Scottish Album of the Year showcase headlined by Young Fathers.
There will also be more than a few big-name comedy acts too – with one-time Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Russell Kane bringing his latest show to Paisley Town Hall, plus appearances from half-man half-Xbox Daniel Sloss and Spree favourite Craig Hill. There’s also loads going on for kids too (do you like Lego? You’ll like The Spree!) as well as theatre, film, community and local history events…and even a hypnotist!
Please visit www.thespree.co.uk/ for more information.
Following the success of his 2009 Edinburgh show, Teenage Kicks, Daniel made his national television stand-up debut on Ch4's Paul O'Grady Show in September 2009, which was followed by his solo London debut at the prestigious Soho Theatre where he became the youngest ever stand-up to perform solo at the theatre and also in the West End.
He started doing stand-up aged 16 as well as starring in his own BBC show 'The Adventures of Daniel' and selling out three Fringe seasons in 2008-2010 - all before he started to shave. He has performed in Europe, Australia and South East Asia and is the winner of 2011's Scottish Variety Award.
'Nothing short of hysterical. A stunning show of observational humour. We will be hearing a lot more from this boy in the future' (Sunday Express)
'Charming, self-deprecating and genuinely funny' (Time Out)
'For those who still view him as a precocious comedy boychild, Daniel Sloss has suddenly become a strong man of stand-up… Has them rolling in the aisles' (The Scotsman)
'A star in the making... Unstoppable!' (The Daily Telegraph).
