Drawing With Thread

You will use liquid watercolours in succulent colours to paint shapes and patterns on handmade, textured Japanese papers to create a collage, then ‘draw with thread’ to draw out the hidden images you have made. You may choose to glue your thread, sew simple stitches or show off your embroidery skills, use coloured, black or white embroidery thread as you draw in a whole new way.

You will also be looking at line drawings and colourful paintings by Leonora Carrington and abstract works by Wassily Kandinsky, inspiring you to create your own images and symbols as you sew on paper and draw with thread.
