Grayshott Folk Club presents:
Traditional Irish/Celtic Folk with: cua + Zoe Wren
Since releasing their superb "Songs of The Hollow" album, Irish/Celtic Folk trio cua have gone on to become a band that has gathered in more praise than most from all sections of the music media.
Awarding the album an 8/10 rating at Americana UK, Jeremy Searle said:
“This Irish trio stands right at the forefront of contemporary cutting-edge folk and even that description sells it a little short.”
Issuing a similar judgement for Acoustic magazine, Julian Piper had this to say:
"At its finest, music should confound and amaze, and this trio from Ireland have the ability to be one of those outfits who can pull this off."
"cua are John Davidson, Shane Booth & Ros O'Meara and they bring together dynamic and contrasting instrumentation and vocal arrangements. The group have an expansive acoustic soundtrack blending guitars, fiddle, bouzouki, percussion and 3-part harmony arrangements, to create a world music folk styling that the group call Atlantean."
As an indication of their growing popularity outside Ireland, cua were a last-minute addition to Glasgow’s Celtic Connections last January 2019 and theirs was one of the very first sold-out events.

Cua are a Laois based band with members John Davidson, Shane Booth and Ros O'Meara. They like to call themselves Atlantean by which they mean, 'a kind of folk and roots style, encompassing our Celtic heritage and the influences of ancient music on later genres such as Jazz, Bluegrass, Appalachian, Americana, and a touch of psychedelic folk thrown in for good measure'.

Folk-influenced singer-songwriter Zoe Wren was the youngest performer to play the main stage at Folkstock Festival when she was just 16. Zoe’s growing reputation has seen her invited to perform at Cambridge Folk Festival by Hitchin Folk Club in the summer or 2016, having previously been invited to perform on Stage 2 in Brian McNeill’s Festival Session at the festival after her floor spot in the Club tent the day before.
