Steve Reich And Terry Riley
Following its sell-out concert in 2016, the London Sinfonietta returns to Nottingham Contemporary on 22 March, to perform iconic scores from pioneers of minimalism, Steve Reich and Terry Riley.
Reich and Riley changed the direction of music in the 1960s with their deft use of repetition and slow harmonic rhythms creating hypnotic soundscapes. London Sinfonietta soloists will take on Reich’s iconic New York Counterpoint, Electric Counterpoint and Cello Counterpoint and his Violin Phase before joining University of Nottingham music students for Riley’s seminal improvisatory masterpiece In C.
