Raising funds for the North Walsham Skate Park

Do you remember the days, of Shoulder Pads, Big Hair, Break Dancing, CD Walkman’s, Rubik’s Cubes?

Were you a Goth? A Punk? A New Romantic? Or did you just love the Pop Music? For one day in August, North Walsham is travelling back in time to celebrate all that was great about the decade. The Market Place will host the usual Sunday Market at 8am but will give itself over to the Main Stage where from midday local bands will play their take on classic 80’s tunes from all genres. Capturing the unrivalled attitude and atmosphere surrounding of one the biggest bands in the world, Platinum Queen Headline and are guaranteed to have everyone Dancing in the Street.

There will be a pop bar and cocktail bar selling those classic 80’s cocktails that we all loved; Pina Colada anyone?

St Nicholas Church will become a Cinema in the twilight hours showing two classic 80’s films, with cushions and popcorn. And throughout the whole day the Church Grounds play host to a variety of entertainment including a Game Zone, Giant Scalextrics, Break Dancing displays, Cakes and an 80’s Market.

Throughout the town will be a number of photo opportunities inspired by famous film quotes and there will be a Rubik’s Cube competition, Musical Bingo, and a Fancy Dress Cup. Shambles will host an Exhibition of Photos of the town as it was in the 1980’s which will give you a chance to spot your house and even yourself.

The Precinct will become a Roller Skating Rink with stall holders from around the local area and Acoustic Music on the Precinct Slope.

Church Street will host a Street Food Market with a host of tasty delights including Gluten Free, Bar-B-Que, Fudge and Ice Cream.

Classic Cars and Bikes will be on show in the Vicarage Street Car Park and you will have a chance to vote for the best in show.

Later in the day The Black Swan becomes the Alternative Music Venue & the Kings Arms plays host to a night of 80’s Music.


** The main staging area and Game Zone are free, but there will be a £1 fee for Cinema, Bingo, Roller Skating etc. All proceeds will go towards the new Skate Park in the Trackside area of the town.
