Newcastle Panto Ltd are pleased to present as this year’s Christmas Panto, one of the most traditional and popular pantomimes of all time, Sleeping Beauty!

The timeless story of how Princess Aurora has a spell cast over her by the evil fairy Carabosse because she had not been invited to her Christening. The spell is that if she pricks her finger on anything sharp before her 16th birthday she will die.

On the day of her 16th birthday the evil Carabosse tricks Sleeping Beauty into looking at a beautiful spinning wheel on which she pricks her finger. To save her the good fairy Merryweather changes the spell so that Sleeping Beauty and everyone in the castle only fall into a deep sleep.

One hundred years later the good fairy Merryweather leads the handsome Prince Valiant to the castle where upon seeing Sleeping Beauty he falls in love and kisses her gently. At once the spell is broken and all in the castle returns to normal.

The castle is filled with music and laughter as the family and maids clean the dusty old castle for the wedding. The wedding is attended by the Prince’s family as well as the fairies. And like every great fairy tale, they seal their marriage with a kiss and live happily ever after.

This promises to be another Pantomime filled with magic, music and laughs!
