Weight obsession is perceived as a recent phenomenon but as historian Dr Louise Foxcroft shows, we have been struggling with what, when, and how we eat ever since the Greeks and Romans first pinched an inch. In what promises to be a surprising and often shocking talk, Foxcroft will expose the myths, anxieties, and 'anti-fat cures' that have driven an expanding dieting industry and reveal the extreme and often dangerously absurd lengths people have gone to in order get slim.
