Thirty years ago, local people raised more than £1 million to build a New Theatre here in North Staffordshire, a new home for the Victoria Theatre Company which, since 1962, had been based in a converted back-street cinema. What a fantastic achievement that was! And what a beautiful building they helped to create.

The New Vic opened in 1986, becoming the first purpose-built, theatre-in-the-round in Europe. The company has flourished in this wonderful building – more than 150,000 visitors every year, their productions winning national plaudits, the quality of their life-changing work with local communities acknowledged nationally and internationally.

This 30th anniversary year has been an opportunity to celebrate and to thank everyone who has contributed to the theatre’s success. But it’s also a time to look to the future. Enjoy a great night out – and help reach their £300,000 target!
