Depicting the demise of the controversial and flamboyant Marquis de Sade, Quills delivers a compelling mix of black comedy and dark truths.

The Marquis, imprisoned in Charenton asylum, struggles to continue writing his erotically charged, provocative texts in early nineteenth century France.

Sade’s legacy is, of course, the word ‘sadism’ but some suggest that the Marquis was a genius, exposing some of the grotesque hypocrisies screened by the ‘polite’ society of the time.
