Made famous on television, Alan Bennett’s plays have become part of the fabric of English drama.

Bed among the Lentils, Susan, an alcoholic wife of a popular vicar, conducts an affair with a grocer, Ramesh Ramesh the Third, and discovers much about herself and God.

A Chip in the Sugar: Middle-aged Graham still lives with his mother and becomes increasingly jealous when she reunites with Frank Turnbull, an old flame.

A Lady of Letters: Irene Ruddock tries to remedy the social ills she sees around her by writing to her MP, the police, the chemist etc and ends up in prison where , ironically, she finds happiness.
