The Wasted Eliot Outtakes
‘The Wasted Eliot Outtakes’ is a very different and humourous take on Eliot’s persona which views his relationship with Margate and his experience with writing ‘The Waste Land’ there during a time of convalescence whilst exploring what ‘sadness’ really looks like and its’ lighter side.
The setting is the studios of BBC Broadcasting House 1922 during a recording of what is arguably his most famous poem. The audience are transformed into the very audience present at the original recording and therefore are witness to all its’ outtakes and mishaps. Eliot’s musings transport the audience through the streets of Cliftonville and down onto Margate’s Main sands through his recollections aided by projections of bygone times and Elliot performing his very own foley.
