And The Rope Still Tugging Her Feet
And The Rope Still Tugging Her Feet is an award-winning solo play written and performed by Caroline Burns Cooke.
It premiered in Brighton, 2016 and played the Edinburgh/Vaults/Buxton/Manchester/Great Yorkshire fringe/Ventnor fringe festivals and The White Bear and Hen and Chickens in London, picking up an Argus Angel Award and multiple 5 and 4 star reviews on the way.
The play is inspired by the Kerry Babies scandal of 1984, when a young unmarried mother was falsely accused of murdering a newborn washed up on White Strand in Co. Kerry, Eire. It's a darkly comic take on a time in Irish history when "the most dangerous place to be in in the mother's womb". Bishop Joseph Cassidy.
